Acts 2:42

Posted by Team Leader on

On Saturday morning, we started the day with the second session of our Conference. Maria and Jake shared their testimonies about how outreach has changed them and challenged them to step out of their comfort zones and serve the Lord abroad and at home.

Dave shared at the conference with the group the method that he uses to preach the gospel to those who do not know Christ.

One of the families who we met three years ago invited us to join them for lunch after the conference, and we were able to see downtown Tegucigalpa. Afterwards, we traveled back to Impacto, where Dave preached on Colossians 1.

The hospitality shown to us in Honduras is the image of Acts 2:42. Mi casa es su casa is an understatement. Each family that we stayed with treated us like family and made us feel at home. Their generosity is something we all hope that we can take home and imitate. Our hosts never wavered to share the love of Christ with us and those they encountered. If they were tired (we’re sure they were), it never showed.

On Sunday morning, Dave preached at both services with José translating again. Jake, Shannon, and Maria helped with the niños during their Sunday school. With their Outreach Month coming to a close this weekend, the kids dressed up as people from different cultures. The pictures are pretty awesome. Some of our favorites included some Asian outfits and a very cute little Leprechaun. The best might have been the kids who forgot to dress up, so the teachers told them they’re gringos!

After church José and his wife Wendy drove us to San Pedro Sula where we were greeted with a BBQ by our friend Solomon. Again, the hospitality is unexplainable. The time we had with our Impacto friends we always treasure. They are beautiful servants of the Lord and their love for Christ pours out of them.

Our first flight this morning was delayed which caused us to miss our connecting flight. Currently, we’re sitting in a café in El Salvador awaiting our new flight home. We’ll arrive in D.C. around 9:30 p.m. and then drive back to Pittsburgh.

Please pray that we continue to have safe travels and that our team continues to bond. With a small group this year, we’ve been having a lot of fun together, which is great since we’re together for the next 12 hours!

We did evangelize to quite a few people who did not receive Christ as their Lord and Savior, pray that the seeds planted would be watered, and continue to pray for those who did receive Christ: that they would get connected to a church and mentor to help disciple them and grow their walk with God.

Thank you to everyone who has supported us financially and prayerfully. We are so grateful for this opportunity to share Christ in Honduras and to support Impacto church through the Conference. Our prayer is that the Impacto congregation would take to heart what Dave preached on all week and that they would see their outreach in their homes, school, workplaces, communities, and throughout the world.
