  • Role Overview: This person would serve on the hospitality team and help to make and serve beverages for Sunday worship services.

  • Role Overview: This person would work with a team to help make freezer meals to have on hand at the Robinson Campus.

  • Role Overview: Male leaders for a male small group. 
  • Time commitment: Once a week for 2 hours during Chapel Students.

• Medical Team Member
  • Role Overview: Have First Aid training, understand AED, and be on duty if there are health problems that need to be addressed. 
  • Time commitment: Sundays before, during, and after weekend service.

• Security Team Member
  • Role Overview: To keep watch over the congregation and our facility and utilize tools to keep everything safe. 
  • Time commitment: 1 year commitment, 3 hours/week, before, during, and after weekend service.

• Front Office Volunteer Receptionist
  • Role Overview: This person sits at the front desk in the Main Office to answer the phone, let people into the building via the doorbell system, assist with their questions, and guide them in the direction where they can find the information. This role also includes help with small tasks such as: paper cutting, putting postage on bulk mailings, etc. Computer skills are not required but are helpful.  
  • Time commitment: Flexible hours, dependent on your availability.

• Visitation Team Member
  • Role Overview: The Visitation Ministry provides comfort and encouragement through visitation to members and regular attenders of The Bible Chapel who are in the hospital, a nursing home/care facility, or who are homebound. 
  • Time commitment: One to two days a month - 2 hours a month
  • Membership is required for this serving role.

• Bereavement Team Member
  • Role Overview: Care for and serve grieving families who recently lost a loved one. 
  • Time commitment: Once a month - 3 hours

• Mercy Fund Team Member
  • Role Overview: The Mercy Fund teams exist to work with individuals, families, and caregiving ministries through mentoring, counseling, and dispersing financial support to people in need.   
  • Time commitment: Case by case basis - approximately 5-10 hours a month

• Someone Cares Team Member
  • Role Overview: Prepares and delivers a meal to a congregant needing support after an illness, surgery, new baby, or death in the family.

  • Role Overview: Volunteer to pray for any needs submitted to the South Hills campus.  
  • Time commitment: Flexible depending on the number of prayer requests being submitted

  • Role Overview: Helping to assist the Cancer Care Coordinator in facilitating meetings. 
  • Time commitment: Bi-weekly Cancer Care meetings - 2 hours/month; commit for 1 semester or 1-year

  • Role Overview: Serve members of the congregation who cannot afford to have minor home repairs completed and unable to do the work themselves. Work includes carpentry, electrical, plumbing, painting, and other home maintenance jobs.

  • Role overview: Serving, welcoming, and caring for all guests who come through the cafe with positions such as barista, register, cold drinks, and counter service.

• Small Group Leader
  
  • Role Overview: Small group leaders are the driving force of our student ministry model. Everything we do is aimed at setting up our Small Group leaders to successfully lead students in 5-12 grade into a growing relationship with Jesus. Small Group leaders meet every week with a group of students of the same grade and gender. Their job is to make Chapel Students incredible by creating unified, fun, and impactful small groups. They take great interest in their students' growth and development

  • Role overview: The Check-In Team helps the Student Ministry ensure no student falls through the cracks. With checking in students and capturing new student information, the Check-In Team is critical for our ministry.

Typically, The Bible Chapel hosts two concerts per year. The need for volunteers varies per event.

  • Role Overview: Our Greeters are our first point of contact for all concert attendees by sharing a warm and welcoming smile, providing directions, and answering questions.

  • Role Overview: Build lasting relationships with a pre-married couple as you help newly engaged couples through our pre-marital course, and check in with help or guidance post-wedding.

• Wedding Coordinator Assistant (Paid volunteer opportunity)
  • Role Overview: Meet with the TBC Wedding Coordinator and the engaged couple to finalize their wedding timeline. If the wedding is off-site and the TBC Wedding Coordinator is not available, you will stand in for the officiant at the ceremony rehearsal and help with the day of the wedding. If the wedding is at a TBC facility, and the TBC Wedding Coordinator is unavailable, you will run the rehearsal and the wedding.

• Medical Response Volunteer
  • Role overview: Medically trained volunteers are "on call" via radio during church service times to respond in the need of any first aid or medical emergency situation.

• Choices Pregnancy Resource Center Baby Bottle Campaign
  • Role Overview: Work alongside Choices Pregnancy Resource Center to pass out and accept baby bottles that support the Baby Bottle Campaign.

• City Mission Sweet Sunday
  • Role Overview: Help pass out cookies at the City Missions Sweet Sunday event.

  • Role Overview: We are looking for helping hands to cut angels before November and volunteers to help collect gift boxes before and after services in December.

  • Role Overview: Throughout the year, the City Mission has different needs for volunteers and will communicate what is needed when they reach out to our team.

• Harvest Street Mission
  • Role Overview: Serve the homeless any Sunday during the year with the Harvest Street Mission in the North Side of Pittsburgh. Gather your neighbors, family, or Small Group to serve together rain or shine.

• Security Team
  • Role Overview: The Security Team’s mission is to create a safe environment for worship and fellowship. Members are screened and trained by the Security Team Coordinator.
  • Time commitment: Team members generally serve at one service per month and may also serve during concerts and other special events.

• Community Group Leader (for women, men, and mixed adult groups)
  • Role overview: Your main role as a Community Group Leader is to foster a gospel-centered Community Group where members are growing in relationship with God and one another.

  • Role overview: We value inclusion within the Special Needs Ministry and love that our Student Ministry works with us to make it so that our students with different abilities can attend Sunday evenings. Volunteers in this position will be paired one-on-one with one of our students to help them be fully included throughout the evening. You would attend large group games, worship, and teaching as well as go into small groups with their peers. Your role would be to spend the evening with the student and help in any way they need support.

• Sunday Morning Volunteer (Classroom Helper)
  • Role overview: Are you able to be a friend to someone? If so, we would love for you to join us on Sunday mornings in the Special Needs Ministry! As a classroom helper, your role is to hang out with the students, help them safely transition, assist in getting kids settled for story, and be a friend to our students.
  • Time commitment: 1-2 Sundays/month for the 9:00 or 10:45 AM service.

• Adult Sunday Morning Volunteer
  • Role overview: Our adult ministry meets during the 10:45 service. As a classroom assistant, you are responsible for helping students while in the Worship Center during music, transitioning downstairs for their class time, supporting the teacher while the Bible story is being taught, helping our adults in the classroom by answering questions, and having conversations.

  • Role overview: We are looking for a teacher during our 9:00 AM service on the second and fourth Sunday of the month. Each week, you are provided a lesson and supplies to teach the Bible story to our students. Once you are finished teaching, you can then hang out with the students and support them throughout the rest of the hour.

• Day Camp Volunteer
  • Role overview: During June, we will be hosting three weeks of day camps. We are looking for volunteers to help support the kids we have attending each week of camp. Every day, there will be a sensory activity, story, lunch, cooking, theater, and music time. We are looking for volunteers to either lead these areas or help rotate with the kids.
  • Time commitment: 4 days/week for 4 hours/day

• Respite Volunteers
  
  • Role Overview: The Special Needs and Foster and Adopt ministry are teaming up to host respite nights and we need your help! As a respite volunteer, you can be a classroom lead or a group leader. Classroom leads run either the gym, story, craft, or snack. All activities within the room change respite to respite, but you will be provided with the information for your room before the event. Group leaders rotate to each room with the groups. Typically groups have 6-8 kids per group. Some kids are siblings, some have different abilities, and some are part of the Foster and Adopt Ministry. You will be provided with information about the students in your group before the event.
  • Time commitment: Once a month from 5:30-8:00 PM on days of the event.
  • You do not have to be a member to volunteer.

• Thursday Wonderfully Made Ministry
  • Role overview: Every Thursday from 1-4 PM, our Wonderfully Made Ministry meets to fellowship, bake, and learn about Jesus. As a volunteer, you would hang out with our adults and help them with any needs during the baking/activity period of the day.

• Coach/Assistant Coach [Soccer season (April-June), basketball season (January-March), and flag football season (August-October)]
  
  • Role Overview: Spend time with a team of players, teaching them about the sport and Jesus while being a good example to spectators and players.  
  • Time commitment: 10 weeks, 1 practice per week, approximately 1 hour on a weekday evening, and one game per week, approximately 1 hour on Saturday

• Fitness Center Ambassador 
  • Role Overview: Check the Fitness Center weekly for basic cleaning and repair needs. 
  • Time commitment: 1 year commitment - weekly checks on the Fitness Center

• Referee [Soccer season (April-June), basketball season (January-March), and flag football season (August-October)] 
  • Role Overview: Teach children the rules of the sport by refereeing, keeping control of the game, and communicating with the players and coaches. 
  • Time commitment: 8 week season with games every Saturday - minimum of 6 games throughout the season.

• Men's Basketball Volunteer Chaplain
  • Role Overview: Attend weekly men's basketball meetings and be a prayer warrior, encourager, and friend to attendees. Help us brainstorm ways to make this ministry a more effective and encouraging ministry!

• Sports Ministry Special Projects Team Member
  • Role Overview: Help coordinate and plan special projects for Sports Ministry including: season evaluations, picture days, and end-of-season celebrations.  
  • Time commitment: 1 year commitment (9 events during this time), minimum of 3 events

• Camp Coach (Flag football camp week, soccer camp week, and basketball camp week)
  • Role Overview: Help to coach groups of kids throughout a week-long summer camp, communicate with camp counselors, and be a great example to our participants!

• Scoreboard Operator Team Member [Soccer season (April-June), basketball season (January-March), and flag football season (August-October)] 
  • Role Overview: Operate the scoreboard during Upward games while communicating with coaches and referees. 
  • Time commitment: 8 weeks of games, minimum of 15 hours throughout the season
  • Membership is not required for this serving role. 

• Summer Camp Front Desk Team Member (Flag football camp, soccer camp, and basketball camp)
  • Role Overview: Greet families as they enter the doors and help direct and coordinate drop off and/or pickup! 
  • Time commitment: 1 week during the summer - either 7:30AM to 10:00 AM (drop off), 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM (transition), or 2:30 PM to 4:00 PM (pickup).
  • Membership is not required for this serving role. 

• Upward Basketball Greeter Team Member
  • Role Overview: Greet families and spectators as they enter our facility and answer simple questions regarding the day's events! 
  • Time commitment: 8 weeks during the season (96 possible hours during the season) - minimum of 20 hours throughout the season 
  • Membership is not required for this serving role. 

• Audio Engineer 
  • Role Overview: Runs sound for the worship services either live in the room or for the live streaming video.
  • Time commitment: 1-2 weekends a month - all three services 
  • Membership is not required for this serving role. 

• Camera Team Member
  • Role Overview: Help run the camera during weekend services. 
  • Time commitment: 1 - 2 weekends a month - all three services
  • Membership is not required for this serving role. 

• Projection Team Member
  • Role Overview: Help run the slides through ProPresenter during the weekend services. 
  • Time commitment: 1 weekend a month - all three services 
  • Membership is not required for this serving role.    

• Lighting Team Member
  • Role Overview: Help run the lights for the weekend services. You'll learn to program the lighting scheme for the weekend which includes picking colors and setting the scenes to help the congregation engage in worship.  
  • Time commitment: 1 weekend a month - all three services and Tuesday evening rehearsal before your serving weekend. 
  • Membership is not required for this serving role. 

• The Hub Team Member
  • Role Overview: Assist guests with selecting and purchasing books, Bibles, and spiritual encouragement gifts. 
  • Time commitment: Very flexible- each shift is about 1.5 - 2 hours during weekend services as well as Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 10 AM - 1 PM.
  • Membership is not required for this serving role.

• Creative Team for Night Out With Chapel Women events
  • Role Overview: Be a part of a creative team where the objective is to design meaningful and memorable large group experiences to help women get connected into Small Groups, provide a time to meet in a larger group setting, and bring value by providing programming that will address a variety of issues facing Christian woman. 
  • Time commitment: 1 year - times vary throughout the month 
  • Membership is not required for this serving role. 

• Weekend Worship Team - Vocals
  • Role overview: Our worship team has the privilege of leading our church in corporate worship through music and song. As a vocalist, you will use your gift of singing to help lead the church in lifting up their voices in worship.
  • Time commitment: 1 weeknight rehearsal (2 hours) and at least one full weekend per month (Saturday and Sunday services).
  • Membership is not required for this serving role.
    
    
•  Weekend Worship Team - Band
  • Role overview: Our worship team has the privilege of leading our church in corporate worship through music and song. As an instrumentalist, you will use your gift of music to help lead the church in worship.
  • Time commitment: 1 weeknight rehearsal (2 hours) and at least one full weekend per month (Saturday and Sunday services).

• Group Leader
  Adults (For 18-20 year-old group), Peer (For 21-24 year-old group)
  
  • Role overview: The Group Leader plays a crucial role in fostering spiritual growth and community among young adults within the church. This position involves leading a weekly Small Group by facilitating discussions and building relationships that encourage young adults to grow in their faith and connect.
  • Time commitment: 1 year commitment - 3 hours/week
  • Membership is not required for this serving role.
    
    
•  Worship Team Member
  • Role overview: Our worship team consists of people who want to use their musical gifts and talents to lead others in worship. This is an important role that we take very seriously. Team members rotate based on availability for Monday worship nights.
  • Time commitment:  Once a month and 3 hours/week when scheduled to be on the worship team.
  • Membership is not required for this serving role

•  Check-In Team Member
  • Role overview: The Check-In Team helps the Young Adult Ministry make sure no one falls through the cracks. With checking in each young adult and capturing new person information, the Check-In Team is critical for our ministry.
  • Time commitment:  1 year commitment with 2-4 Mondays/month (1 hour a week)
